With financial support from GIZ through the QUALIPRO programm, Groupe Milima organized a capacity-building workshop in Uvira from 14 to 17 January 2026, bringing together media professionals and digital actors to strengthen their ability to prevent and respond to hate speech and disinformation. The training focused on fact-checking, responsible information management, conflict-sensitive reporting, prevention of community tensions, and the role of media in promoting social cohesion and dialogue. As an outcome of the workshop, a community-based monitoring and reporting mechanism was established, including a network of volunteers and a follow-up system to identify harmful or problematic content and support awareness-raising initiatives and the development of constructive counter-narratives.
